Urych Named One of the “Best Tourism Villages” by UN Tourism (UNWTO)

In 2024, the village of Urych achieved international acclaim by being named one of the “Best Tourism Villages” by the UN World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism). This marks a historic first for Ukraine – an achievement made possible primarily through the initiative and dedicated efforts of the Tustan Reserve team. For this small Carpathian village with a rich history, this is more than just an honorary distinction; it is a validation of our chosen path of development.

Years of dedicated work by the Reserve’s staff, a focus on heritage-based tourism, the creation of authentic experiences, and the ability to seamlessly blend history with modern approaches have established Urych as a global example.

The Tustan Reserve has become a catalyst for positive change: from preserving the unique medieval rock fortress to developing a high-quality tourism product that honors nature, culture, and local identity. Thanks to this systematic approach, Urych is recognized today not merely as a place with a past, but as a village with a promising future.

This recognition by UN Tourism is a shared victory for the Reserve team, the local community, and everyone who works daily to ensure that Tustan and Urych remain a space of living history, responsible tourism, and inspiration.
